Financing Public Transit

The first step to renewing Rhode Island's Public Transit system is identifying a way to finance RIPTA in which the system can grow with demand. The current revenue for RIPTA is a 7.25-cent per gallon gasoline tax that actually shrinks as ridership grows. To address this crucial issue, the New Public Transit Alliance is hosting a special summit on financing public transportation on September 23. Below are links to the materials used at the Summit.

Add your organization to the Coalition for Transportation Choices

You can add your organization to CTC. Review our Statement of Principles, and if your organization can commit to the principles send an email to John Flaherty of Grow Smart RI and co-chair of the Coalition that you would like to join.  Simple, huh?
